After we repaired all the wall gaps of the boundry we then wall topped fenced it preventing the deer entering.This prodject took 5mths of blood sweat and tears !!!!!!

After completing 100 metres of the boundary wall of this orchard. The wall opposite was down to be fenced. They had previously been advised this wall could not be done. We suggested that we rebuild a 10 metre section to prove it could be. The Cumbria Wildlife Trust were given funding for 200 metres after we demonstrated it was repairable.

Below is an example of a days work 8 metres (between the two fence posts) stripped down and rebuilt 1.4m high far side. The second two pictures are further up the field.

The boundary wall of this large field was jointly owned by a farmer and the National Trust. The farmer liked our work so much we were contracted to rebuild the opposite boundary wall.

This project was for The Forestry Commission, The National Trust and Unitied Utilities on the Wild Ennerdale (Grazing Animals) Project.

"Wild Ennerdale is a partnership between The Forestry Commission, National Trust and United Utilities with a vision to allow the evolution of Ennerdale as a wild valley for the benefit of the people relying on natural processes to shape its landscape and ecology."

For 5 months we lived in a portakabin during the week that had to be positioned by helicopter. We rebuilt 450 metres to help the control of grazing animals on the mountain.


1. Our home - four days a week for 5 months

3. You can see on the below pictures an  X on one of the stones, this is one of three very long 4 foot throughs which we marked so that as the wall was built up we knew where they were, and not to put one above the other.
